Today, on World Earth Day, we are reminded of the vital call to protect God's creation and ensure the well-being of all its inhabitants. It is crucial to acknowledge the challenges faced by countries in the Majority World that are often disproportionately affected by the adverse impacts of climate change.

Despite contributing minimally to global emissions, Countries and regions in the Global South often bear the brunt of climate change, with rising temperatures and changing weather patterns threatening their way of life and cultures. These communities face severe risks, from increased waterborne diseases to the dangers posed by rising sea levels as well as other extreme weather events, such as drought and flooding. Such challenges underscore the urgent need for climate justice—solutions that are equitable and considerate of those most vulnerable.

Faith2Share, as a christian membership community bears witness to these injustices and advocates for meaningful action. We urge world leaders, international bodies like the United Nations, and influencers across the globe to prioritize the needs of those in the Global South. May their discussions and decisions reflect a commitment to stewardship of the Earth and compassion towards its inhabitants.

On this Earth Day, let us join in prayer:

Heavenly Father, Creator of all, we lift our hearts to You in prayer for the Earth and all who dwell within it. Grant wisdom and compassion to those in positions of power, that they may act justly, addressing the cries of those who suffer in the Global South. Inspire us all to live responsibly, caring for Your creation and sharing the burden of our brothers and sisters facing the challenges of climate change. May our actions reflect our stewardship of the Earth and our love for its people. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.

A unified international approach is needed in order to create a better future for communities most impacted by climate change. Through our prayers and actions, let us reaffirm our commitment to a healthier planet and a more equitable world.
