Last week, I had the opportunity to travel to Nepal for the Leadership Development Consultation, held in Chitwan. This locally organized gathering brought together nearly 50 Christian church leaders from across Nepal, all eager to grow in their leadership and strengthen their communities. For many, this was their first chance to receive leadership formation since the COVID-19 pandemic, which tragically claimed the lives of many pastors. The impact of these losses has been deeply felt, making this conference a crucial step in rebuilding and equipping the next generation of church leaders.
Throughout the consultation, we tackled significant topics essential for strengthening leadership in Nepal’s churches. We explored biblical teaching on development leadership, discussed the impact of Christian leadership within families and communities, and emphasized the importance of coaching and mentoring. One key session focused on how to create sustainable funds for leadership development—an ongoing challenge for many Christian communities. I also had the privilege of leading a session on leadership lessons from the global church, offering insights from different parts of the world to help equip and inspire these dedicated leaders.
While my journey to Chitwan was not without its challenges—flight disruptions from the UK made for an arduous trip—the experience was truly worth it. Witnessing the engagement and dedication of the participants, as well as the practical outcomes of their teamwork, was inspiring. This conference has not only strengthened the Christian leadership network in Nepal but has also laid the foundation for lasting impact in the months and years to come. We are grateful that one of our Trutees was also able to attend this conference.
I am full of hope and anticipation for the growth and transformation that will come from this gathering.
