“Young, adventurous, and naïvely confident in the promises of God, AFM missionaries Norman and Beth Beale launched out into the utter darkness of western Nepal," writes Rev. Chris Royer, Executive Director of Faith2Share member Anglican Frontier Missions. "Over time, God put the Western Tamang people upon their hearts, people who 1,994 years after the birth of Jesus Christ were still waiting for missionaries to come tell them about the True Light of the world.
While they lived in a mud house with intermittent electricity for many years, God blessed the Beales’ sacrifice among the Western Tamang as they incarnated Jesus’ presence and power. God used their visits to innumerable villages and their focus on Bible literacy projects to breathe spiritual life into this traditionally Buddhist people group. When the Beales returned to the U.S. in 2001, they handed this ministry over to the Anglican Diocese of Singapore which has been leading it ever since. Like the mustard seed Jesus described (Mark 4:30-32), growth has been slow but steady.
Last month I received an email from Bishop Kuan Kim Seng of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore: 'Thank you very much for your partnership in the Gospel. I thought I should share with you the good news that at our Diocesan Synod last week, we unanimously granted parish status to three Nepali congregations. We thank God … especially Norman and Beth Beale who served in Nepal under the auspices of Anglican Frontier Missions. Thank you everyone, and glory to be God!’
The glorious gospel of Jesus Christ will spread to 'the ends of the earth,' to those peoples and regions where there are no visible or viable churches. God’s promises are sure. And God has given us the privilege and joy of co-laboring with Him in this mission.”
Faith2Share joins our member AFM in heartfelt praise to God for His work amongst the Tamang people of Nepal!
Oh, they’re so glad in your presence! Festival joy!
light! sunbursts of light! You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light
(Isaiah 9:2-3, The Message)
